John Kandell began his collaboration with Källemo in 1982. He has been awarded several scholarships and prizes, such as Excellent Swedish Form, Forsnäs Prize, SIR's honorary award, and Dagens Nyheter's designer award.
Kandell is represented at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Malmö Museums, the Swedish Arts Council and Art & design museums in Copenhagen, Oslo, Trondheim and Tokyo.
